Blog owner cheated me out of my pay - do I do anything about it? [More:]I just quit the blog I'd been writing for, for the past 13 months. The blog owner got mad and decided not to pay me for last month's work, claiming he's had issues with me from the start (funny that I never heard about them). (I quit very politely and professionally... I just said I don't have time to write anymore and it's no longer fun.)

Do I write it off, or do I try to let other people (other blogs or the companies he deals with) know that he cheated me? The site has about 2,000 visitors per day, and has been Dugg a few times. I feel like I should at least warn the other writers that write for him that he may decide not to pay them too. I realize that I'm risking him saying nasty things about me, but it's not professional to cheat me out of my pay. (I don't think I can take legal action, as he's not incorporated or anything, and I don't have a signed contract.)
What have you done in the way of talking to him about this already?

I've tried 3 times. He refuses to reply - the first e-mail he sent me regarding my pay called me by my full name (which I never used on the site) and said "communication ends here." All further attempts (which have been professional on my end) have failed.

Sounds like he needs a lawyer letter and a stab in the ass.

Could you actually call to talk to him? Sometimes email isn't the best way to resolve issues.

Look, I'm not your lawyer and I can't be, but the fact that you have no written contract and he's not incorporated does not mean you can't sue him for money he owes you for services performed. It may not be worth it, but you could.

But I think youngergirl has the right idea.

I don't have his phone number... but thanks for the advice. I did go ahead and tell the other writers since I think it's only fair for them to know that he may screw them out of their pay too.
