Have a cigar, my nephew's home early! Five weeks early, but who's counting? Five pounds five ounces, eighteen inches of newborn man; he's in fine fettle, mom's doing great. Hurrah!
*coughs* , *blows smoke*

Congrats! Diapers make a great gift! And socks. Lots of socks.

Hurray, hurrah! Now the question is, how will we tell the difference when you tell funny stories? Baby nephew and big nephew, perhaps?

"The one who talks" and "the one who gurgles and coos."

From one uncle to another- congrats!

Congratulations! You need an extra, to act as second in the inevitable duel.

Congrats, Unky Hugh! I hope they named him Impala.

They named him after my uncle. I'm sure he'll be tickled. My uncle's the funniest guy I know. He and my aunt were childless for medical reasons, so they fostered and eventually adopted a badly abused boy and girl who were beyond their capacity to help; the boy drove my aunt to drink and she died of it. I'm sure my brother and SIL realize how tender a thing it is to name the kid after my uncle, and I'm really proud that they've done so. Plus, the name goes well with my surname (it's time-tested and -proven).

I don't think I slept much last night. My neck hurts. I'm in a daze, with a smile on my face. I should knock off the artynoon in favor of a martini somewhere.

These little guys really fill a gap, it's nice. I bet the dog is excited.

Where's the obligatory "mom looks like she was punched" picture?

I want to whuffle the baby, please!
posted by Specklet 11 October | 13:16
Sorry, plinth, but I can't post pix of my family here; it's not my right to make that decision for them, and I'd probably opt not to if it was.

I'm sure my S-I-L looks bleary and wrecked and gorgeous, just like all new mothers.

And on preview, I want to whuffle him, too, the little shrimp.

Congrats to all!

Hugh, I must say you have excellent taste in imaginary internet cigars. The one I'm pretending to smoke is truly incredible. I can see sounds and I can hear colors. Oh shit! I forgot to take off the plastic wrapper...

I can see sounds and I can hear colors.

Uh, that's not the wrapper, dude....

Smoking my imaginary old briar Oom Paul full of a blend of well-aged red and bright Virginias, chopped Maduro leaf, and bit of Perique here...lazily blowing imaginary smoke rings at ceiling...

Hugh, did you slip me one of those "Jazz Cigars?"

Yes, "Jazz Cigars!" When a "Jazz Cigarette" just isn't jazzy enough.

They were bright blue, man; whadja expect, smurfing tobacco?
