Yeah, but they're not good. They come in a can or a jar, or shrink-wrapped (usually Herta brand).

The best ones are from Lidl or Aldi, which are German-owned supermarkets, and so have better sausages and bratwurst than the normal supermarkets.

At the cinema they sell Westler's Hot Dogs, which always remind me of Homer Simpson's comment after Apu cleaned the grease out of the hot dog machine.

"But without the grease all you can taste is the hog anus."

Next time you come over the water, EJ, we need to turn you on to some Best's Kosher Franks. All beef, huge, pretty darn tasty. IIRC, fairly low fat, too. Kinda like Hebrew National, only better.

The kind of abomination :o) you're describing reminds me of the pickled-sausage-in-a-jar I grew up noshing on in the South.

It should be noted that Hebrew National is a division of ConAgra and Best's Kosher is a division of Sara Lee, a major debate point I use when some asshat claims the Jews control everything.

Still, I usually avoid all but the kosher hot dog brands...
