Yes, because the British never had any innovative rock...

The Wombats are graduates of the Liverpool Institute For Performing Arts (think Fame, but in the UK), which was partially set up by Paul McCartney (who was in a highly derivative skiffle group...). McCartney has apparently followed the group since they graduated and has recently offered them a support slot on some of his dates.

I love it, but I lived through Joy Division and am self-referential as all shit-out and have Performing Arts Degrees. So.

Control just opened today in NYC...my first memory of London in 1990 was some kid wearing a Joy Division t-shirt in the Gatwick train station.
