A few weeks back, a number of metal shows that were scheduled to be held at House of Blues venues on Disney property were canceled suddenly. Machine Head was the first band affected by this, as they were scheduled to play HoB two days after the announcement was made. The show was moved to a venue 80 miles away and many fans missed out. In this blog post, Robb Flynn, Machine Head frontman, takes an honest and thoughtful look at Disney's actions.
Well written. I think I'll buy a Machine Head cd today.

Megadeth is either christian and/or Bush friendly? Really? I guess it must be the former as Foreclosure Of A Dream sampled Dubya's daddy and I refuse to believe that even Mustaine is stupid enough to support the current president.

Banning bands because of their "inflammatory" nature is dubious to say the least. You could quite easily end up banning people like Steve Earle, Bruce Springsteen or The Dixie Chicks all who have expressed anti-American sentiment which, in these times of such huge FUD, could also be seen as inflamatory. Then what happens?

What ever happened to freedom of speech?

on preview: get the first one, Burn My Eyes, it's still by far the best thing they've done.

Yeah, that was the only part of his post I found a bit questionable, also As I Lay Dying. Still, that one point aside, I thought it was very well done.

Agreed on "Burn My Eyes". The new one, "The Blackening", is also quite good.

How ironic that they were turned down by 924 Gilman, even after Tim f'ing Armstrong went to bat for them.

Remember when people were dissing Disney because of those Sacred-Reich-logoed bongs? Funny stuff.

Yeah, Megadeth being Christian-friendly sort of stuck out, and I don't even know metal that well. Maybe they're W-admin-friendly?
While they've produced certain things I like (Eeyore plushies, the Menken-Ashman team), the Disney company as a whole skeeves me the hell out. Everything they do is so...sanitized.

Mmm, well Wikipedia mentions that Mustaine is a born again christian, so maybe it's true. Also in FF's Google prediction search bar deely, when I typed in Dave Mustaine, the top search result was completed with the word 'christian'.

It sucks when corporate venues lose their nerve like this, but the idea that a band named Megadeth is now "Christian-friendly" may be the most disturbing thing about this article. WTF??

We do live in Bizarro World.

"Megadeth is either christian and/or Bush friendly?"

Yup, Dave Mustaine took a lesson from Ted Nugent in '02 and came out as born-again and that he voted for Bush as the lesser of two evils.

*seriously considers selling his Megadeth CDs*

I can happily cope with the religion thing, but voting for Bush? See kids, this is what happens when you rot your brain with drugs for years.
