Happy Thanksgiving, Canuckbunnies! May you be blessed with the company of family/friends/really good people and an overabundance of insanely rich food. May the good lord see fit to provide you with a comfortable place to slip peacefully into a turkey-induced coma, and may you never run out of bacon.
We had our big dinner Saturday. I am already tiring of turkey.

I did not know that, cd (or I learned it in grade 1 and subsequently forgot). Thanks for the link.

On preview: My uncle & his wife and I gorged on bison roast & punkin pie last night, but I'm going over to a friend's place for the mad turkey madness tonight. Good thing I'm working today (though a short day) so I can burn off some of the richness and rebuild my appetite.

Happy Thanksgiving O sane northern neighbors!

Heh....I'm with arse_hat, although I haven't had any leftovers yet. We had my in laws over on Saturday, and then a big friends dinner yesterday. I spent about 80 bucks (that's about, um, USD80, btw!) on poultry Saturday morning. The bird I cooked yesterday turned out great, stuffed with my mom's sausage/tarragon bread stuffing. My pal put a porketta roast on the barbecue...His wife made homemade baked beans. It was a great meal with great friends.

Today, we're hanging out, bummed about the grey, rainy day!

Yeah, you could fit what I know about Canada in an envelope, so I like to read up.

It's a drag that people constantly assume I'm Canadian, because I make a terrible ambassador.

Thanks, indeed, cd, I didn't know the origins of Thanksgiving either, and I'd like to think I have a good base of Canadian history. :)

We're not roasting a turkey this year since my brother complains it's dry. I think he's crazy but he's usually pretty low-maintenance so I figured we could give into this one request to have beef instead. So tonight I'm roasting a yummy herb-crusted beef tenderloin and serving it up with a light risotto. I haven't made any plans for dessert, but I'm wondering if I should bake something....what I'm not quite sure...perhaps a rich chocolate loaf? Will have to see what's in the pantry...

Happy Thanksgiving, northern neighbors!

(I plan a pumpkin pie preview myself later.)

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Enjoyed a turkey dinner with relatives yesterday, and now I'm just settling in to watch the Roughriders take apart the Calgary Stampeders.

Life is good.

It took over two hours for me to get to work due to damned holiday busses, and it was pretty cold. I have chicken pie from the butcher's for lunch (with taties and carrots), so that's ok. No turkey or any kind of get-together thing for me though, but I don't much care one way or another.

phoenixc, it may be too late now, but the last time I made this chocolate terrine the guests actually gave it/me a standing ovation.

Zack, so sorry about the no turkey thing (though I know you really aren't fussed about it). I'll mail you some leftovers ;)

thanks for the recipe elizard! that chocolate terrine looks dangerous!

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm away from my family this year, actually, but it's ok because I had thanksgiving twice last year so things are just evening themselves out now.

Happy Turkey Day!

The mister and I had our turkey dinner yesterday (the first Canadian t-day in our new-ish house!) and it was good. Today we're having pizza leftovers ..er.. left over from Friday night.

Yay! Mailed leftovers! There'd better be gravy!
posted by Zack_Replica 08 October | 20:32
Sadly, there was no gravy :( But I'll make you some 'specially. A bunch of ziplock bags should be okay, right? One each for the smashed taters, gravy, turkey, etc. I think I've got an envelope big enough. I'll just go look.
