Today feels like a MeCha thread gone wonky. Anyone else feel this way? Come inside and twist your brain a little more.→[More:]
Got up, went to London for a meeting which went from being the scheduled 5 hour one to a 7 hour annoyance-fest. After that I was meant to go to the London meetup with loads of really good people I haven't seen since January or earlier. And some guy called Mathowie. But, after over an hour of trying to find the fecking pub, I gave up in a fit of anger and annoyance and got the train home. I was really looking forward to seeing EssexJan, armoured-ant, hugsnkisses, wilder, etc, etc, etc again but I just couldn't cope with trying to find the place.
So now I'm on a hawt phone date with Specklet instead. We're watching the original Wicker Man. There's boobies and everything.
They changed our phone routing today, which means more work for me. It used to be that if the main rep was busy it would flip over to a support rep (like me), and if they were busy it would flip to someone overseas on the same account, and if they were busy it would flip to another team within the same geographic territory.
Now they moved overseas to the end of the list, which means I've gotten twice as many calls as usual, for accounts I rarely deal with. So I've felt completely lost all day. And I'm sick of people getting annoyed that I don't know their account number.
Ever since the Rush thread, my internal jukebox has been somewhat stuck. I keep hearing “Spirit of Radio”, “Tom Sawyer” (both the original and the cover by The Bad Plus) and “Limelight”. While I’ve come to a renewed appreciation for “Spirit of Radio” in that time, three weeks is plenty of Rush for now, thanks. Plus, there’s been a disturbing new addition to the rotation: don’t ask me how or why, but “Tom Sawyer” often segues into the theme from Laverne & Shirley.
Dammit, TheDonF, we missed you. You even got a shoutout. The pub was literally 50 yards from Lambeth South tube station. We were looking forward to seeing you.
Today, I was insulted by a UPS guy, unloaded books from a customers garbageful until I realised that the books were coated in something sticky and smelly and found a book with the imprint 'Playboy Science Fiction.'
