Power Dynamics at The Dentist →[More:] I have some dental work that periodically falls apart and sends me in for fixes. The pain isn't bad, the insurance is good, so I can't really complain, even though nobody likes to go to the dentist. I was in this morning. I think the worst part is that the dentist makes me feel like I've dissapointed or failed him each time. Am I wearing my nightguard? (yes) What does he want, really - a soft food diet? Hypno-therapy to stop the teef grinding? Then there is a good cop/bad cop thing because the assistants are always so nice. (It's not your fault, it's just in a bad place, dear, you use it every day.)
