Are these puppies going to die? →[More:]My friend Khoi received this photo by email, along with a note that the puppies were found by the side of the road and if they aren't claimed soon, they're going to the pound where they'll be destroyed after a couple days. However... I got the same email. Khoi lives in New York, and I live in Chicago -- did anyone else get it?

Completely sad story:

A poker buddy works with the Alaska State Troopers out in the bush. Earlier this summer he came across a family in one of the villages whose dog had a litter, but they couldn't afford to feed all of the dogs. As the puppies died, the owners fed them to their mother.

There was only one puppy still surviving, and the troopers took the puppy and the mother away from the family. He wasn't able to keep the puppy and the mother, so another poker buddy took the puppy. The puppy has some problems with his rear hips - going up and down the stairs is painful - but otherwise he's healthy and happy and a big ball of energy.
