Updates about your fall plans. Please to make them. [More:]
Here are some of my plans for the fall...

Oct 11th & 12th: seeing shows at local comedy clubs for work. (Indianapolis)

Sometime between those shows and the next one frantic shopping for something to wear for -

Oct 19th: A taping in Toledo, OH for Comedy Central (one of the guys I work for)

Nov 3: Lewis Black (not for work)

Sometime in here is also when Miko visits (YAY!)

Nov 29th: One day of shopping in Chicago with my mom & Ambassadair. Yes, we're taking the old lady bus up to Chicago because I HATE driving in Chicago. (Not *in* Chicago so much as the bit where you have to be on the interstate to get into Chicago. The interstate around Chicago seems SO FREAKING SMALL for that amount of people to me.) Keep in mind that I've spent time driving in Boston and Houston...I know bad traffic but the interstate in/around Chicago - just so SMALL. Anyway, the good part of this is that Mom and I have decided we can have cocktails when she gets tired of walking/shopping. Because I don't have to drive. Excellent!
Plans? I'm supposed to have plans?

Ugh, October sucks for me. I am literally in the office for 5 days out of the entire month of October (including today).

Oct 9: One-day work trip to DC and back

Oct 16-20: Work trip to San Antonio, TX (for our annual conference)
Oct 24-27: Vacation trip to LA, piggy-backing on
Oct 27-30: Work trip in San Diego

Luckily it gets better...
Nov 12: Work trip to Indianapolis
Nov ? (Thanksgiving): Vacation trip to Colorado to hang out with bf's family
Dec ? (Christmas or thereabouts): Vacation trip to Houston to see my parents and sister and my soon-to-be new nephew (due Dec 6)!

October: save as much money as possible. I'm scared about taxes. Halloween, yay!

November: save money, taxes, etc. Dear old friend coming to visit. Mom coming to visit. Visiting grandfather.

December: money, blah blah. Birthday.

4 October : Kettlebell masterclass
5 October : Mathowie meetup in London.
18-28 October : NYC!

I have no plans beyond that except to work as hard as I can to avoid being chosen for redundancy in the New Year. One third of the staff where I work will lose their jobs in 2008.

Over the next few weeks we're taking the in-laws to Chicago on the train, and then tooling around Shedd Aquarium and Navy Pier for the day, taking a boat tour, heading back home on the train that evening. They don't travel so much, and we wanted to do something a bit different for their anniversary.

Middle of the month we're going to see the Last Comic Standing tour in town, and also David Sedaris (also in town).

Mixed in there will be the installation of two new storm doors, clearing the yard for the winter. Baby-making.

And now I'm freaking about taxes. Good lord, I hate Mondays. I stress about everything on Mondays. Bad for the soul I tell ya!

1. Finish something that is currently overwhelming.
2. Finish something else that is currently overwhelming.
3. Finish yet another thing that is currently not overwhelming, but still must be done.
4. Maybe start something that I didn't think I'd be able to start until way later.
5. Go travel somewhere not too far that is outside of the US and somewhere else that is far but within the US.
6. Play a couple of shows but not too many that I can't finish some things.
7. Plan for a time when I can play more without having to worry about the things I'm supposed to have finished.

That about sums it up until mid-winter!

Things are very uncertain just now, work-wise. I could get a golden handshake. I could get promoted... So, I'm just going to try and concentrate on being a good parent (teaching swimming, cycling, piano) and recording a demo with Vo.

Avoid people. As I seem to be the giver of bad luck at the moment.

-birthday in a week. Not sure if I want to do anything, though. For the first time ever I'm just not all that jazzed about it.
-work, try to find more work, panic about bills, etc.
-finally get a decent cv together for editing work. Yeesh. Should've done this a year ago.
-freeze for 2 weeks while I wait for my wood delivery, but hope that'll give me time to make enough to pay for it so I don't have to hit my ever-dwindling bank account
-put garden to bed for the winter, order garlic to plant in said garden

October: last minute plans for trip this weekend w/ 3 other women from work. Yay! Our boss says he'll at least answer the phone if we need bail. Also, visit my Mom, who is old and not well, near her birthday in a few weeks. Try not to whine about not going to Bunnystock.

November: Make some American Thanksgiving plans with others who have no extended family nearby. Anybunnies need some turkey plans?

Dec: Visit Mom w/ my son for dysfunctional family holiday hijinx. A diagram of my sibs, nieces, nephews, etc., has many dotted lines for who is/isn't getting along/ faking getting along / harboring festering resentments, etc. But we all love each other, so it often works out.

Also, joining weightwatchers to lose 10 pounds. Or at least not gain 5 more.

I think you should come down to Portland and stay with me for a while. Especially since I got all distracted this summer and never came to visit you like I promised. We would have so. much. fun.

Get up, go to work, come home, go to bed. Lather, rinse, repeat. Everything else is as it comes.

Apple Butter Frolic. Corn Maze. Pocono Pumpkin Festival. A wedding. My anniversary. Hosting a dinner party. I think that's about it. All I know is that I am booked solid every weekend until Mid November. Then the holiday rush starts. This is the Crazy Time. But I love it.

Well, October is full. I volunteer with the marching band at the high school, so every Friday night is a football game, and every Saturday is a band competition (including a trip to Houston for one of them). And next week I start work on a Habitat for Humanity house. Sprinkle in some Sunday school teaching along with going to see the Lion King musical this Sunday, and October is pretty much packed.

November eases up some on the band stuff, but Habitat continues until just before Christmas. And oh, what the hell, I might as well change jobs in November while I'm at it..... I'll be transitioning to a new position.

No chance of the wife relieving me with anything.... she's busy as hell at work and doing an online masters degree with a professor that assigns about 40 hours of reading a week (and that doesn't count writing her papers; that's JUST the reading).

So yeah, we're pretty full right now.

-freeze for 2 weeks while I wait for my wood delivery

Update: the firewood fairy came! Some time today someone came and delivered a cord of wood. Could be wood guy, could be other wood guy (friend's bf) who I called for emergency small order, but just left a message for. I guess I'll find out in the fullness of time. Got about 1/3 of it stacked before it got too dark. Have fire in woodstove as we speak and am toasty warm!

I think you should come down to Portland and stay with me for a while.

I'd love to, Speck, but gotta sort out the money/making money/not spending money thing first. Rats.

Also, I finally finished hooking up my shower & shower curtain rail just now. Wheeeee! It only took 10 months and 5 trips to 2 different hardware stores. So add 'have lots and lots of showers' to plans for the fall.

Can't believe I'm the first person to get to say this:

BUNNYSTOCK!

End of October: day trip to CT to visit high school friend, Halloween Party at church (organized by moi).

Other than that, I got nothing. Week or two in December in Florida; Thanksgiving in NYC in-between.

Finish work in kitchen. Get lawyer to go after the harridan designer who milked me and the slime who damaged my rugs. Get damage from spoiled prince upstairs fixed so I can move in the furniture. Get wall to wall carpet removed from bedrooms. Plan remodel of bathrooms. Plan replacement of windows. See if easy transfer cable will allow Word files to be transferred to new computer so I can send out poems. Figure out if I can tag along to someone's Thanksgiving since my cousins no longer host them. Go to VA in December.
