Lotus Symphony office suite : free stuff from IBM for Linux and Windows (Apple support to come). Based on the Open Document Format, this package includes documents, presentations and spreadsheets.
[More:]
Why free? IBM wants to cut into the M$ Office market as well as dilute Sun's dominance in the ODF sector. Requires a lengthy registration if you are not already a user of IBM's websites.

If you are tired of dealing with proprietary file formats, particularly Word, this may be an option you want to pursue.
It's based off of OpenOffice so if you don't want to be locked into IBM's release cycle, all of their modifications to the suite will be upstreamed and downloadable in plain ol' OpenOffice.

Also, IBM's download servers are teh failure. It took me 10 minutes to download OpenOffice 2.3 over this connection; Symphony, however, seems to take at least two hours, if it ever gets here at all.
