Windows XP AskMeCha. When I right click and save a photo as my desktop wallpaper, where on my computer is that file stored? I want to grab it and use it for something else, but I can't seem to find it. Probably very simple.
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Desktop Background.bmp

That works fine up to "Application Data," which folder I don't have. I'm also using IE, not Mozilla. I have looked through all the folders under my username, but I'm not seeing anything.

Yeah, that only works if you saved the desktop wallpaper through Firefox. If you did it through Windows, it's... hmm... C:\Windows\ something, maybe System or System32? I can't poke around in the Windows directory on my work comp.

On my computer, it's

c:\documents and settings\username\application data\microsoft\internet explorer\Internet Explorer Wallpaper.bmp

You may need to show hidden files to find it.

If you set the wallpaper through the Control Panel, rather than Explorer or Firefox, it ought to be in the C:\Windows directory--if you haven't deleted any, there should be at least a few in there, all bitmaps (.bmp). I'm not positive of that, though.

Aha! Showing hidden files did the trick. Thanks very much.

Sorry, forgot that most people don't have hidden files showing.
