Song hunt So, tonight, uniedntified, on the radio, there was an apparently new song, in a very alt.country vein but heavily influenced by a jangly R.E.M. sound, with a long fiddle solo in the break, and a refrain centering on the word "Telepathy." Any ID help?
Does the station do streaming online? Thanks to the FCC, they are probably required to report the artist & title there, even if the ever-so-considerate Feds have relaxed the on-air playlist announcing requirements (strictly to make way for more announcements about products and services that will improve your life as a consumer, of course. Always lookin' out for your interests, that FCC.)

You could also email the station and give them this description along with the approximate time it played and they will probably know. I did that once station and they got back to me within the day.

No online streaming, and sadly this was the station I'm involved in. Calling them usually doesn't do much good - the song was played by the automated DJ ("Otis") and though it does keep data for a couple days, I don't know how to check it, and usually by the time someone does, it's too late to get the info. We did already leave a phone message at the station, but I thought I'd ask here too, in case the answer was actually available. Thanks!

Sometimes a station's website will list their current playlists.

I'm curious; what station was it? (I might want to check it out.)

No, it costs a lot to set the station up to report the streaming program online, and we haven't got the money yet.

This is the station, and meet Otis.

This song is somewhere in the station's collection...somewhere in the stacks of 10,000 CDs....

Male or female vocals?

Male vocal, kind of a high tenor thing. Another distinctive feature was the percussion, which if you removed it from this very REM-like song, would sound like a clubby dance song. Pretty fast and high-hatty.

I looked at the Ots site, and it appears to have a pretty strong search function; you could search songs that played within the last two hours, for example, and wouldn't have to know artists, titles, etc.

I couldn't tell if that feature is included or if you have to pay extra for it.

Using that search function, you could also search for the keyword "telepathy."

That feature is included, I just don't have access to it. We have licensed managers of the thing at the station.

Anyway, eventually, they will get back to me. I was hoping for the instant gratification of "MetaChat knows!"
