Boasting? This is the most affordable weeklong vacation known to man: come one, come all, to Chiapas!! It was $1600 for two of us, including airfare.

I LOVE Palenque. It takes some doing to get there but it is SO special.

I used to stay at the Motel de las Ruinas, which I hear is closed now, used for housing for the ruins keepers. But it was an easy walk up the hill to the ruins, only 1/3 of which are excavated. You could walk through the jungle and come up against a stone wall in the middle of nowhere. . .

Hey did you start out at San Cristobal?

No, we came down from Villahermosa. We kept San Cristobal a possibility, but with four people it didn't get to happen.
