The Weekend Is Over I worked my arse off [I now require two days to recuperate from the last two]. So, what did The Bunny Brigade get up to (aside from watching some washed-up old slapper dance poorly on television)?
Was kicked by a horse and now have broken rib. Hurts like he**, even with drugs. Will attempt to work today. Don't know how long it will last since this just took 5 mins to type...
Wow. That's awful mightshould. I hope you have a speedy recovery.
I had a headache all weekend long (some kind of sinus thing I think). Our drummer had to take his girlfriend to the hospital on Sunday so we couldn't practice for our show in Somerville, MA this Wednesday. We're completely under-rehearsed. I went to a friend's going away party. He's moving back to Seattle. Sad for us, good for the pacific northwest. Overall, not the greatest weekend, but not the worst.
Oh, thanks for the concern! That's nice. I need to see how project is going here - we're due to complete it tomorrow, so it's busy and I'm the "go-to" person. I am hourly, not salaried, so no sick time, vacations, etc. so if I can function, I may as well feel miserable here and help pay off the doc. bills!
Course, my thinking may be slightly impaired...drugs are good for that...
Wow, stitches in foot hurt so bad. And then safetyfork with headache all weekend - what's going on!?
Hopefully someone here had a good weekend?
I hung out with pals and then went to see Superbad last night. It was really fucking funny, as had been reported! Sounds like I had one of the quieter, and less traumatic weekends in bunny land.
Saw the indie musical "Once" at a surprisingly nice indie movie theatre, went to Coney Island, church, hanging around eating Indian takeout. A nice, fun restful weekend before the week where I rush to get everything done before leaving for vacation on Friday!
My wife took a pregnancy test on Friday and it was positive. She took one Saturday morning and it was positive. She stopped at a quick care clinic in a mall and took another test and it was negative. She explains the details here.
Now, we're confused and waiting for a blood test today. I have my fingers crossed that the negative test is wrong.
We threw a party on Saturday night, and it seemed like everyone had fun. A coworker left his hat, and I found out the Flaming Lips are playing here in two weeks, and tickets are impossible to get - they're scalping at 3x the value! I'm pissed that I didn't hear about this show until recently.
Sunday, we lounged around in our jammies and watched lots of football, while I investigated the above for 3 hours.
Can someone who works at a mall kiosk be called a nurse? Because I can't do it without kind of laughing. This isn't a medical professional; this is someone trying to sell medical tests like they're braclets or tank-tops or something. I would put her out of your mind immediately and wait to see what the real doctor says (Mom is wise!)
drezdn, the blood test is the real deal and the only one to take seriously. Take it from me - if I listened to those pee tests I would have been mightily surprised 9 months later. I never showed up on them, even when I was months along - only on the blood tests. Also, the home tests actually are a lot more sensitive than the pee tests the doctors use and also, yes, your first morning pee is the good stuff.
In other weekend news, I went to a big old Asheville street party which featured a guy trying to ride a 40 foot high bike which, unfortunately, didn't quite work out as planned but was still cool as HELL. Pix here.
Sunday: the mister and I crossed the border into WA to get the Bellingham airport (he flew out of there to SF because his passport has expired). Not far into the trip, the Jeep conks out at an intersection. We pushed it into a parking lot to fuss with it but nothing happens (cranks, gets power, lotsa gas, but doesn't turn over). Called BCAA and they sent a tow truck (for me and the Jeep) and a cab for the mister. The mister gets to the airport fine and the tow truck driver gets me to the border fine. He can't take me over the border - it's not allowed. Okay fine, we set it up so a Canadian tow will pick me up at customs. I wander around waiting for the driver in the heat, finish up my water, need to pee, etc. Argh. He showed up about an hour later (which is exactly on time). Got through the border with cooperation from both Canadian and US customs (tow driver was allowed to drive around a building so he didn't have to go through customs saving time and money, I finagled this during my wandering around waiting for him).
Same tow company picked up the Jeep this morning to tow into North Vancouver to our mechanic. I'll have to get a cab to get me to the bank so I can get money to pay the cabbie and to take the train in Mission into North Van to picked up the Jeep when it's ready. Hopefully that will be tonight or tomorrow morning. The cats are getting really low on food and I had *whine* plans for the Jeep while the mister was gone! Shopping and movies and eating out, oh my!
Thanks for the warm wishes everyone, my wife (christinetheslp on mefi/indigojones here) got the results of two doctor performed tests today and they both came back POSITIVE! We'll get the blood test results tomorrow.
I built four raised vegetable garden beds, shifted 6 m3 of organic mix, shovelled, barrowed and spread 39 barrows of mulch from our giant pile (which ends up being right in the middle of the vege garden area, which is why I couldn't build the other two beds). Did some other stuff I don't remember. Slept in Saturday. Boring.
Saturday: poked around various neighborhoods (Mt. Baker, Ballard), shopped for groceries.
Suday: helped Matildaben move house. Am now v. stiff in arms and back, and acutely aware of the fact that I am no longer 25 (and haven't been so for 22 years).
