A. Don't be an idiot, you can't do that.
2. You can do that, but I don't know how.
iii. You can do that and here's how: [include details of how, using words of no more than two syllables].

I use unplug to download then play with media player classic. flv videos work with VLC too, i think.

I should clarify that flv is the extension that flash videos (youtube) save as. There are also websites that let you download youtube stuff, just google "download youtube videos".

Ha!

No, I am asking on behalf of a work colleague. She is not very technical, so it needs to be something fairly simple. This one seems to fit the bill, but I wonder if anyone has tried anything like it that works easily? She wants to download videos from YouTube for use on an iPod.

If you use Opera just use the VideoDownloader widget.

No Opera - she doesn't have broadband at home, so is doing this via a locked-down PC with IE6 at work.

There's a how to on Wired. The easiest way seems to be with savetube, but I don't know if the FLV files it saves will play directly on an Ipod.

vixy.net is pretty simple.

Sorry, here are instructions

1. GOTO vixy.net
2. PASTE URL in box
3. CHOOSE Win or Mac from pulldown menu
4. CLICK Start button
5. WAIT (and it does take a while)
6. DOWNLOAD [may start automagically, may need to click "Download the converted video"] link

I have had this work most of the time, but when I was just trying it to write these instructions the download worked automatically but when I clicked the link to try it that way I got a weird error.
