Wow, that's a blast from the past. I loved that song as a kid. It's interesting how the intersection of classical symphonic music and rock played out through the late sixties/early seventies. The Beatles and the Beach Boys were probably the beginning and ELO was probably the last wave. I think the underlying theme was less about instrumentation and more about the idea of movements within a given piece. Though sometimes very pretentious, I miss the seventies art rock aesthetic.
