Tube strike misery is my silver lining [More:]This week (and perhaps next too - another 72-hour strike is planned from next Monday evening) I get three days working from home instead of two. I live near the end of my tube line and have no other way of getting to work.

The downsides are:

- I had to carry tons of files home, but used my wheely backpack so it wasn't too bad, except for the stairs at the stations.

- This meant I had to take the car to the station and there are now no free bays near the station, so it cost me £2.50 to park and it'll be the same on Friday.

The upsides are:

- I can get to the gym on my lunch break every day. My membership is off-peak hours only, so I can't use it in the busy evening times.

- I can get to Kwik-Fit to get my slowly-deflating tyre replaced outside of the rush hour traffic.

- I can stay up late and get up late for the next few days.

- No-one can see me slobbing around in my yoga pants and old t-shirt.
yay!

My other half is working from home today too. I just fixed him breakfast and now I am doing research!

All those hip wankers who live up the Northern Line are kicking themselves envying you working at home today, I'm sure. ;P

(no offense to Northern line peeps)

I think we should start abbreviating "Christ, what an asshole."

The taxi drivers are about to strike here too. I remember the last time they did...the streets were MUCH safer. In NYC, one can obtain a cabbie license without proving one has a driver's license, which is one of the reasons why I don't take them if I can help it (another being my comment miss lynnster favorited on askme) I take the subway or the bus; when I have luggage I call a car service.
