04 September 2007

There's a pianist in the atrium of my building every day between 11:00 am and about 3:00 pm. He plays the usual numbers, "Piano Man," "Yesterday," "Killing Me Softly," &c. Right now he's playing the theme song from the TV show, "The Incredible Hulk."

Please help me find a way to control the raging spirit that dwells within me.
HA! PERFECT!!!!
Always liked when David Banner walked off on the road to the next nowhere with that lonley piano playing in the background!

Does he take requests?

I'm kind of impressed/curious about the fact that you recognize the theme to The Incredible Hulk. I don't think I'd place it if I walked into a lobby and heard it playing. The theme from the Dukes of Hazzard, though, would be another matter.

No, mischief, but he waves at me when I take the escalator to the deli for a Mountain Dew.

Really, cobra!? You don't recognize that haunting piano melody? I guess I watched it a lot when I was a kid.

"Dr. David Banner: physician, scientist -- searching for a way to tap into the hidden strengths that all humans have. Then, an accidental overdose of gamma radiation alters his body chemistry.

"Now, when David Banner grows angry or outraged, a startling metamorphsis occurs.

"The creature is driven by rage and pursued by an investigative reporter. 'Mr. Magee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.' The creature is wanted for a crime he didn't commit.

"David Banner is believed to be dead, and he must allow the world to believe that he is dead, until he can find a way to control the raging spirit that dwells within him."

Go make friends with him and offer him some sheet music. Bach's two part inventions are nice.

Well, I have to hand it to him, he played Blondie's "Union City Blues" earlier and sometimes he plays Ravel and Chopin, but if I ever hear "You Light Up My Life" again, I'm gonna get angry.

Yeah, I guess I didn't watch it a whole lot. the more I think about it, I think you should request the theme from The Fall Guy. There's a tune that could use some piano-izing.

I think that Matthowie and Alexandra Pelosi are related.

I never get to hear more than 15 seconds of the theme from The Incredible Hulk due to the irresistible urge to walk away. One time I repeatedly listened to it on my Walkman and ended up in the next dusty town over.

Gould always reminded me of one of those nodding glass birds with the tail-end ball of liquid, that bob up and down and up again, or the clockwork behind a series of dancing dolls circling a steeple clock, or a perfect piano roll. I like Horowitz a little better; he always makes me feel like I'm draped in crushed velvet, an angel combing my flowing golden tresses, my dick resting at half-mast in a bowl of warm custard.

I love both.

Horowitz playing Liszt, proto-stoner prog-rock.
I'm there right now.

HA! Awesome. Piano roll, indeed.

I think you should plop a fiver on the keyboard and request these

I Dream of Jeannie theme
Gilligan's Island theme
Synchronicity (police)
Murder by Numbers (same)
medley of Dolly Parton tunes
Good Luck Charm (Elvis)
Little Houses (on the hillside...)
Bananaphone

Just walk up to him and say, "That song makes me angry. YOU WOULDN'T LIKE ME WHEN I'M ANGRY."

I put Piano Man on the juke at the Remote once. I think several suicides resulted.

And if you do go the Glenn Gould route, don't forget the filter.
