No way! And in other breaking news, water is apparently a liquid.
The men also appeared to be much less choosy. Men tended to select nearly every woman above a certain minimum attractiveness threshold, Todd said.
This underlines the fact that there's many different kinds of phyical hotness. Plus, it's not like women throw themselves at ugly guys, either. People don't generally date folks they find physically unattractive. That's just the nature of things.
Their study involved 26 men and 20 women in Munich, Germany.
Is it just me, or are we seeing more and more of these "studies" that are totally unscientific?
Note: I am not a scientist, but even I know that a study making generalised statements about human behaviour needs more than 46 data points to be even remotely non-ridiculous.
Not only are they using an incredibly small sample, but the subjects are people who participated in speed dating - I'm guessing that's not going to be very representative either.
Not a scientist, never took statistics; I do live with Science Girl, though, so that's gotta count for something. Right?
I can vouch for the fact that both Science Girl and bmarkey are totally hot in that smart, nerdy, stealth-hip way that is near and dear to me. And they make a very cute couple.
I really wonder now what the "minimum attractiveness threshold" is, and what side of it I fall on.
Also, I have this bad/amusing tendency to poll people at the local goth club. Like, I get this idea in my head and ask everyone's opinion. While drunk. Since I typically ask between 50 and 75 people, by the standards of this, I am not an annoying drunk girl who wants to know what guys really think about hair falls. I'm a SCIENTIST!
