ink redux Got part two done, on my right arm. (more inside)
It's about 5" high, and yes, it be covered in goo at the moment.
The other side is all but fully healed, just a bit of itching and dryness at this point.
It was fun, because my artist is a friend and a cool guy to hang out with, and we could take breaks and wander around since it was late and no one else was in the shop.
At one point a group of drunk college kids outside tried to convince him that he should stay open late since "drunk kids would totally come in all the time and you could just tattoo dicks on them and they wouldn't even know!" Us sober folks saw this as slightly less fun.
The shop is in the major university district so, at one point after 1 AM when we took a smoke break, we realized that we were both the only sober people outside and the only people of legal age to actually drink.
Thanks! The extensive shading and bright color seems to be one of my artist's trademarks. I've seen different stuff from him, but everything I've seen where he was basically told "go for it, I trust your judgment" has that kind of look.
I just can't figure out why his color is so much more vibrant than anything else I've had done, even when they were just as new. Either inks have improved a lot in the last few years, or he's onto some trick my old artists didn't know.
Inks have improved a lot in the last 18 years. I know this because the tattoo I got 18 years ago (which is in color) is so boring & bland compared to all the tattoos I see now. I'm going to get my tattoo revamped sometime in the next few months so it'll be better, brighter and more vibrant. I'm seriously jealous of the color variations in the thread spools of your tattoo. That's an awesome tattoo.
I may actually head over to a local tattoo place today (if they are open) to see what my costs might be + what ideas the guy has about what to do to my current tattoo, etc. I just picked up a secondary job for the next few months so I might actually be able to get the tat revamped + some new ink, too. Yay.
