Back in Texas →[More:]It wasn't easy, let me tell you. The US Embassy in London lost the wife's passport two weeks ago. So we had to go to Newport to get a new passport made up and then go back to the Embassy in London to get her Visa reissued. All this with one week left until our flights.
Yesterday morning, everything was going really smoothly. Too smoothly. There were no excess baggage charges. I was taking my guitar on the plane with me. Something had to go wrong.
The British Airways check-in agent somehow lost my son's US Passport while checking in our bags. Luckily we still had his British passport so we were able to travel.
At the Houston end, we had to wait for an hour while they decided what to do about our 11 month old son that was trying to enter the US indefinitely on a British passport. Today felt like we were on one of those reality TV airport shows. But we are here, all in one piece (well...14 pieces - 6 checked bags, 3 carry-ons, 1 guitar, 1 golf bag, and 3 humans).
And the kid did remarkably well for his first airplane ride.
