Anybody got this week's New Yorker? Can you look at page 52, and tell me if anything relates in any way to this comment?[More:]
Someone pulled a driveby in #tapes earlier today, re: the above. I have no idea what they're going on about, but I'm pretty dang curious now.

I am prepared to be really let down when I find out what's up.
This week's New Yorker is at home. What's on page 52?

To whet your appetite while you wait for someone to investigate the paper copy, you might be interested to know that searching for "feeder" returns an abstract for "Three Chopsticks" by Calvin Trillin, an article starting on page 48 of this week's issue. Tension mounts!

I can get ouy a pdf of last week's but I guess that's not much help, huh? I'm gonna see if the lazylibrarianweb can help me...

It's all words - a poem, and part of the article about Ian McKellen. I only look at the pictures.

You work like two block away from Borders, just go look on a break. Damn lazy layabouts!

I assume you're talking about the Sept. 3 issue, which hasn't hit my library yet, and hopefully my copy is in my mailbox at home.

I work hard for the money.
So hard for it, cmonkey.

"I commiserated with a number of them this spring, when a Prime Minister's office organized a Singapore Day in Central Park. Singapore Day was supposed to be for expatriate Singaporeans and their guests, but I was among some New York feeders who wormed our way in when we heard the festivities would include Singaporean dishes prepared by a dozen hawkers flow in for the occasion."

There we go! Thanks for the follow through, TPAA. I must consider a letter to the editor.

Ha! Amazingly embarassing for the reporter on that article.

I don't get it.

Mudpuppie:

Foodie = gourmet wannabe
Feeder = someone who has a sexual fetish of force-feeding someone else (or being force-fed, I can't really remember).
posted by SassHat 28 August | 16:39
Ah, thanks Sass!

I've only known of "feeder goldfish," and that's not the same thing. I'm pretty sure.
posted by mudpuppie 28 August | 16:44
I don't think the awesome Calvin Trillin embarrasses that easy.

Is arialblack a regular in #tapes or someone who just randomly appeared specifically to tell you that?

Oh, and do you ever sleep?
posted by iconomy 28 August | 17:27
hmmm. must be last week's issue.
posted by chewatadistance 28 August | 18:02
I think arialblack = TPAA.

And I sleep a reasonable amount every evening. I just constantly vibrate during my waking hours.

I was going to say "no way, I'm not arialblack" but then I looked at arialblack's metafilter profile and saw he or she is also in the Bronx. So it makes since. But I'm not arialblack.

Another mefite lives in the Bronx?

It also makes sense.
