"Faith healer" Benny Hinn does some hardcore healing.
Love It.
A genuine smile is so invigorating. Thank you.

"The Lord also tells me to tell you in the mid 90's, about '94-'95, no later than that, God will destroy the homosexual community of America. [audience applauds] But He will not destroy it - with what many minds have thought Him to be, He will destroy it with fire. And many will turn and be saved, and many will rebel and be destroyed."

It reminds me of the healer in "Double Whammy" by Carl Hiassen.

this was a FPP on meta not too long ago; I'm too lazy to look up the link.

It's pretty cool how well done it is. I saw it a few years ago.

I.HATE.HIM.

My grandfather gave him so damn much money when he was still alive. It drove my grandmother up the freaking wall, so the first thing she did when my grandfather passed was write "RETURN TO SENDER- DECEASED" on the latest donation request in her elderly-lady handwriting and pop it in the mail.

They still send them, but now they add a "Mrs." in front of my grandmother's name. Apparently someone saw the envelope and writing and deduced that the widow was still living.

So slimy.

kellydamnit, that's awful.

My dad never gave money to these people (as far as I know), but he always gave them the benefit of the doubt. My brother and I would be ragging on the likes of Hinn or Robert Tilton, and my dad would always stick up for them, saying "you guys don't really know what's in their hearts". It drove us crazy!

I think he felt protective because his sister and her husband were evangelists and missionaries who were friendly with some of those TV people (not Tilton though, if I recall), and he equated our attacks on the charlatans with attacks on her.

To his dying day, I think he believed these people achieved more good than evil with their antics. It was just one of those things I eventually had to accept about him.
