Well, I did it. I resigned, saying mental health emergency. I've taken today and tomorrow off as sick leave. If I go to the doctor will the doctor give me a note for today and tomorrow? the doctor appointment is at 3:40pm tomorrow.
Is this the psychiatrist or the person that refers the one?
i don't know how it works there but i bet they'll write you whatever note you want.
Please get me one that excuses me from gym in my next life.

Don't know the answer to your question, but am sending good vibes your way.

Don't worry, the doctor'll okay your absence. I hope you can get the breathing room you need; best of luck. Spend your first day off doing whatever you like. Leaving a job can be more satisfying than getting one, but I can understand if you feel less than satisfied right now. Take what you can, and stay strong.

Do what you need to relax, take a load off. Breathe. Not working is a good thing.

I'm sure if you explain things to the doctor they'll be okay. Best of luck.

You need to use a few trigger terms for GPs here. What they are principally looking for is "suicidal ideation", anything or everything you have thought over the past X months that might suggest you are a danger to yourself. Anything that suggests you cannot function normally, the desire not to get out of bed, the need to hide away, you've said it all on here, now your GP needs to hear this.
I'm not saying you need to be excessive, just that GPs operate in a 10 minute timeframe for consultations and you need to get across to him how disabling this has been and how damaging to your metal health.
He/She will TOTALLY be on your side and write you off for a couple of weeks at least to be reviewed by you both once things have calmed down.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO Happy to hear you've taken this step. WELL DONE!!

I really think this is a good call. I very much hope not working relieves some of your stress!

Good for you, Grace. I'd be careful about what details you give your employer about why you are leaving if you plan on using them for a reference. 'Stress', 'it's not working out/I've not been given the tools/support I need to do the job properly', etc should be fine, but full-on mental breakdown may not be something you want them telling a future employer about.

Take care of yourself, and good for you for giving yourself some time off. Hope your next job is a bazillion times better.

Yay!

Good for you. Wish I'd done something similar back in 2002. Been there, done that, got the tshirt, hon.

Extra whuffles-and go eat something chocolate.

I'm a n00b and as such haven't been following your story for long, but what bits and pieces I've read sound all too familiar to me. :( I wish you the best of luck; take care of yourself.
