The new Danielson documentary isn't all that special...but..... [More:]I now have a better appreciation of Sufjan Stevens. Which was the whole point of the movie, or at least the friction inherent in said movie.

Also, falling asleep on a comfy couch listening to Danielson out of a television set is a feat not for the meek. Danielson does not make for good dream soundtrack.

Your mileage may vary.
I keep forgetting to check that out. I really want to see it!

But I'll watch it in the daytime, with a lot of tea on hand. No Danielson dreams for me.

The best dream i had in the longest while, and i've had some pretty horrible dreams for a while, was from tiredly rewatching Stranger than Fiction just before i slept. It was fabulous fun, light and upbeat without a lack of depth and great attention to detail.
i highly recommend it. Hanging out in Chicago with Emma Thompson and Maggie Gyllenhal is great fun.

*looks to find Danielson docu*

I really loved the Danielson Familie doc and think that it's one of the better music documentaries to come out in awhile (the other, and much better, one being the very, very heartbreaking-but-beautiful The Devil and Daniel Johston, but I love Mr. Johnston so much that I may be biased).

The film actually made me like Sufjan less, though. I bought the Michigan album when it came out and liked it. Then I heard Seven Swans and the Illinoise albums when they came out. Now all I can think about are the facts that 1. Sufjan has basically two songs: breathy folk tune with banjo/guitar and a Vince Guaraldi one in 9/8 that has a female vocal and 2. the montage of people in the doc talking about Sufjan (I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't seen it and know that it was the POV of the director, but still it runs through my head). Anyway, he's good, but annoys me... kinda like Jeff Tweedy, but that's another rant entirely (one that poor cortex has had to listen to a couple of times by now).
