(i just meant i didn't for a minute imagine anyone would know it was my birthday, or know who i was if they did know, etc. etc. also, i came to metachat just looking to read stuff about other people and then i see my name on the front page and i'm like, "huh? OH! woo!")
this is just to say, again, thank you very very very much.
Also, taz, I love that martini glass. Can I have it?
My 28th birthday thus far: Wake up at 11 a.m. Drink two cups of coffee while playing two games of online canasta. The Boyfriend slumbers on.
We have no plans for today, as I injured my knee the other day. (We were going to go to my favorite old-time amusement park, but I don't think it would be much fun to hobble around when I can't even sit on the toilet without gasping in pain.)
And so ... what shall I do today? Mind you, activities must be inexpensive and gentle on the knee.
Given your knee, maybe the birthday celebrations should come to you. I can be over with noisemakers and a cake in 45min! Or...just invite a friend or two over for a pizza party. Elsa's idea sounds good too.
Thanks again, everyone. We ended up being pretty tame: We went shopping at my favorite art supply store, The Boyfriend's favorite video game store, and at the Giant Corporate Bookstore, where I limped around for fifteen minutes before I announced it was time to go home. The original plan also included going out to dinner, but my mom's birthday is exactly one week after mine, so we decided to just all have dinner together next weekend. Instead, we ordered Thai. Which is a rare treat, because usually the Thai restaurant people won't deliver to our building. (We have a really cruel towing company).
Presents I got, either from The Boy or from myself:
Three new tubes of oil paint for a painting I'm doing for my mom's birthday
A big ole canister of turpentine
Master's soap, so I can get the oils off my fingers when I'm done
A GBA game: Dr. Mario and some other puzzle game in one cart
A collection of Doris Day films (my secret guilty pleasure)
The deluxe edition of "Highway Companion"
A set of colored pencils for my shrinky dink jewelry-making
AND, most importantly, The Boy made me an 8x10 "photo" of Pudge, my favorite Animal Crossing character. It sounds silly, but I freaked out when this cute little orange bear moved out of my town a few months back. Adam made a really high-quality photo and framed it for me. He wasn't sure I'd like it, but I wanted to sleep with it on my pillow last night.
