can anyone recommend a good (free) stats tracker that isn't sitemeter? [More:] see, one of the websites i help run is starting to get sockpuppeted and/or astroturfed on a fairly regular basis. i'm specifically looking for a tracker that will not only retain records of visits from specific ip addresses and domains, but also the complete 32-bit addresses. we're starting to get some pretty interesting looking traffic from different government agencies (local, state and federal), but the free version of sitemeter isn't cutting it at all and based on my brief experience with the paid "pro" version, i'm not really all that impressed.

any suggestions would be very much welcomed.
It's not free, but I like Mint quite a bit. And at $30 flat, it's pretty affordable.

Have you looked at statcounter.com yet?

I use statcounter too. It seems to work well. You don't have to put nasty buttons on your site, either. Just hide a little bit of code somewhere.

Use Google analytics as well. I use that together with both webalizer (not so great) and awstats (better) so that I can get a clearer picture. All stat counters have their quirks, Google analytics freaks out about redirects for example, and won't work if you are using it in any way.

I put on Mariah Carey's "Dreamlover" today... || Phil Rizzuto, The Money Store guy, RIP.
