Como se dice 'cueca' en ingles? Spanish speakers: what does the (apparently) slang word "cueca" mean? [More:]Wikipedia indicates it's a Chilean dance, but a Google image search also turns up pictures of hot guys in their undies. Google translate is no help. Does the word refer to the men, the type of man, a body part, or the underwear itself? (originally discovered via the tags for this YT video - NSFW)
If you google "cueca slang underwear" you get a bunch of links indicating that it's Portugese for men's underwear. Apparently it means "boxers" but gets applied to both boxers and briefs.

I'm pretty fluent in spanish, though not Chilean spanish, but it does indeed appear that "cuecas" is either a brand of underwear or the term for same. Doesn't appear to be slang, though, ie "cuecas" doesn't mean "tighty whities", it means "underwear".

Though I'm thinking it might actually mean "underwear for hot gay men," after perusing some of the ads and videos.

fwiw in spanish (~panama) "cueco/a" is a very offensive way to say "gay dude/lesbian".

but the cuecas that we're talking about here are indeed underpants, in portuguese.

hope that helps
