This use of AskMe is resourceful, but I can't say I think it should be encouraged.
What is wrong with an adult person that they need to ask a bunch of strangers what to wear anyway? Or am I just being too grumpy? It's a lovely day outside, it's Saturday, I should get out in the sunshine.
dg, I stepped out into the sunshine a few weeks ago, after getting TOO disgruntled with Metafilter, and I haven't gone back inside since (well, sometimes I look through the windows a bit).
OOOO hadn't thought of using AskMe for that. My boyfriend always says "You look fine, totally fine." And then I go into the ladies' at some point and say:
OMG YOU LET ME GO OUT IN PUBLIC LOOKING LIKE THAT? I TRUSTED YOU TO TELL ME IF I LOOK COMPLETELY INSANE AND YOU SAID you look fine, totally fine.
You know this is going to end up with a rash of photos of me on AskMeFi saying "Do I need to brush my hair?"
I flagged it. Was almost tempted to call it out. I mean, I have "should I keep these boots" pictures posted to Flickr, but that's a wholly different kettle of fish.
Confession: The first thing I did when I got a digital camera (other than taking hundreds of pictures of my cats) was poll my friends on what to wear to a wedding. I was trying on a bunch of things and it occurred to me to take pictures so I could view them objectively. Next thing you know I was sending them to all my friends asking for advice.
But AskMe? No.
I did just join Shoutfit (linked in the thread).
I have been known, on occasion, to take a picture of myself with my cameraphone in the dressing room, and send Stynx the picture, asking for his opinion on whether I should buy something. Stynx has very good taste.
