Little Children, the movie. Spoiler. →[More:]
I didn't read the book, bummer, but I did watch the movie the other night.

I have two questions:

1. Why was Jean (Sarah's friend) perturbed when she left the house after babysitting? I'm guessing Jean knew Sarah was having an affair, but the movie never went into how Jean knew. Did the book go into this? Did the little girl say something to Jean?

2. When Jennifer Connelly's character dropped the fork and lingered under the table, she was staring at Sarah's blue painted toes. Why did the movie make a point to show Sarah's feet? It never followed up on this. Was the blue nail polish mentioned in the book?

Also, the narrator from this movie sounds like the narrator from American Experience on PBS. I'm most definite it's the same person.

Not fabulous, but this was a pretty entertaining movie. I'll watch anything with Kate Winslet.

1. yes, the kid somehow let her in on what was going on. and then sarah acted so weird about trying to give her money.

3. Will Lyman was the narrator, and yes he's worked on American Experience too

I watched it recently too.

I think she lingered under the table because she was checking to see if Kate Winslet and the husband were playing footsies -- they showed his feet too.

I figured the daughter told the babysitter. I was surprised to see the picture frame she made -- I thought it was going to have a picture of the four of them.

Yes! Obviously. The narrator even said so. I forgot about this. The camera seemed to pan in on just her feet for longer than necessary.
