Update on my stepdaughter's condition [More:]Thanks to all of you for keeping us in your thoughts. It has been a terribly long ordeal, but she's finally approaching the end of her ICU stay. She's not out yet, but her doctors are saying it's a matter of 4 to 6 weeks, now. Once she leaves ICU, she will go to a regular med-surg floor and then into a rehab facility.

There is a good chance of her being placed on a medical transport plane and sent home, once her condition meets specific criteria set by her Wisconsin pulmonologist. Her mother and support network are there.

This has been one of the most difficult things I've ever gone through. My only fear is that she will do something like this again, but I have no control over that. I just have to keep hoping that her psychiatrists will get her meds right, to stop her psychosis.

If you have no idea what I'm on about, please refer to these prior posts: one and two.

If you'd like further information, please feel free to email me.
I can't even begin to imagine what you've been going through. Ugh; sounds terrible. I hope things get better and your stepdaughter eventually recovers and leads a happy life. The best to you and yours; you're in our thoughts and prayers.

Oh LP. I'm glad she's doing a little better. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help.

Is she conscious? Hopefully she can find good professionals and peers to help her deal and understand what's been happening. Maybe there is a nearby chapter of a NAMI support group for you all.

It's so awful when you have no control over something with such a terrible outcome. Even though you love her, you cannot make her better. But, you still continue to love her. That's what you CAN do.

Plus, remember to love yourself as you look after the rest of your family. I've done the ICU-watch, and know how all-consuming it can be.

All the best.*hugs*

((((LP)))) Thanks for the update. I had been thinking about it and wondering how it was going. I hope they can find the right mix, and it can settle into some normalcy soon.

Och, that's still rough; glad to hear she's improving. I hope things continue to improve. You seem strong, and that's good for her and you, too. Big heart.
