I made kosharee for dinner What did you have?[More:]

I had kosharee for the first time a few weeks ago and have been meaning to make it ever since. Rice, tomatoes and lentils served over macaroni. Although I skipped the macaroni because it smelled so good as it simmered I couldn't wait for macaroni to boil. If you haven't tried it, you should!
That looks delicious, and simple --- always a plus, especially on hot summer evenings.

After considering a proper dinner, I've decided just to nosh a bit here and there. I just had a small dish of potato salad with tangy yogurt dressing I made last night before bed; I put too much cayenne in, even for my spicy tastes.

Later, some brocolli, maybe, and an apple. There's fresh focaccia, too, and a chunk of parmesan if I feel like it.

dinner is still about four hours away in this time zone, but i'm marinating skirt steak and need to prep some dry rub to do carne asada style tacos.

good stuff, SassHat. lentils are one of those things i'm always simultaneously fascinated and intimidated by. i should brush up on my middle eastern culinary legume-fu.

Going out with a friend. Not sure where or what we'll have, but for a snack, I had a couple dolmades from the shop down the block.

Cooked chicken on the grill, in a garlic & herb marinade. With biscuits and cole slaw. This was for me, my sons and my son's friend.... a guy meal.

My wife is eating with a friend.

We ordered Indian. So that was kachori (not every Indian place has this and it's my absolute favourite dish) for both of us, chicken tikka masala for mr. gaspode and lamb biryani for me. Also naan, raita and all that stuff. We have more than enough left over for lunch tomorrow.

And now we're drinking beer, watching the Orioles beat the Yankees.

It being after 10pm, we've just decided to have baloney sandwiches strictly to keep us from being horribly hungover tomorrow.

I'm popping back in to rat on myself. I did not have my wholesome brocolli followed by a fresh crispy apple.

No. I had a handful of chocolate chips and a glass of milk for dinner. Also, bread with a hearty slap of butter.

Sometimes, you have to.

The usual: yogurt with nuts, wheat germ, flax seeds and organic honey. I love this stuff because by this time of day, cooking is out of any question or any answer.

Carmina, yogurt with nuts is my favorite thing to eat, especially in the summertime.

sass, I just read your comment in the what's in your kitchen thread, trail-mix is my mix too! Sometimes I go for the nutri-mix instead. I love the sweetness of the raisins combined with the tanginess of yogurt -I avoid the pre-sweetened stuff. I am partial to raisins of course, but the blonde californian variation is the absolute sweetness.

Chicken breast with balsamic vinegar, dijon mustard, garlic, and mushroom concoction I make. With broccoli and baked potato with reduced fat sour cream and a pat of butter. Went to the LSO concert and had two drinks and some popcorn. Picked the kids up from my sister's and had lots of Cheeze-it crackers, a few Milkduds, and a bite of pizza. What the hell happened? I was off to such a healthy start!

I had some leftover brown rice (first toasted in browned butter, then simmered in homemade chicken stock w/ onions), and some hamburger (grass-fed yumminess) thawed in the fridge, so I got out Hazan and riffed on some meatloaf. I didn't do the whole braise-in-white-wine song & dance she suggests, and went instead with the old tried-n-true Amurrican technique of baking it. And instead of ketchup, I invented a topping of tomato paste, white wine, bbq sauce, balsamico and a smidgen of garam masala. (which is homemade ketchup in need of a fancy name) I served it with a salad of butter lettuce, organic tomatoes, some slivers of shallots, some abocabo, and a simple walnut oil, red wine & balsamic vinagrette.
