The River Rhine Tapes Possibly demos, possibly just The Beatles screwing around in the studio circa 1969. I don’t know. I’m not a huge Beatles fan, but I generally prefer these versions to the ones that made it onto an album. [More:] A few samples to whet your whistle:

Two Of Us
I Got A Feeling
Good Rockin’ Tonight
Her Majesty
John Lennon, apparently quite high, singing Maxwell’s Silver Hammer

If you want to grab the whole thing, here’s part one, and here’s part two, zipped up for your convenience.

Really good stuff BMarkey. I just saw these guys play Let It Be live and was thinking about picking up Let It Be Naked, this pretty much scratches that itch.

Yeah, when you strip away all the tricksy studio doo-dads, they were a decent rock & roll band at heart. Of course, nothing is ever gonna help "The Long and Winding Road". Even without all the treacly Spector production laid on it, just McCartney and his piano, it's still one of the most lugubrious tunes I can think of. Listening to it is like drowning in heavy syrup.

Very nice indeedy! I love the behind the scenes non-glossified stuff. Thanks, bmarkey.

YSI: Reunion - Life is a rock (but the radio but rolled me) || Did John Edwards break his wife's rib while nailing her?
