Rhode Island Reds are really devoted mothers and dedicated layers, which is why they're so popular. My poor Porkchop wants a family so desperately that she squats in front of me every time she sees me, and has since she came of age. (That's a hen's way of saying "Do me.")

P.S.: I can almost guarantee that the hen decided to rear the kittens only AFTER determining that they weren't immediately edible.

I expect that's a decision she'll live to regret, mudpuppie, when at 10 weeks old they realise ... hmmm... mommy tasty ... turn on her as one and devour her, leaving only the beak and claws.
