26 July 2007

I keep packing, unpacking, forgetting to pack, and being unable to pack in my dreams. It's getting exhausting, as well as annoying, because I apparently pack very badly when I'm asleep. My subconscious seems to be throwing everything into bags willy-nilly. All my dream clothes will wrinkle.
Oh, my. I was just considering what qualities make some dreams seem so very real, while others are obviously just, "Meh, I'm dreaming."

I woke up early this morning yelling and kicking, my fella holding me and gently shaking me to wake me from a dream so heartbreaking and astoundingly vivid that I had to stay awake for a while to sort through the roiling emotions it raised. I'm still a bit shaken, though it has no discernable connection to the events of my life.

I had a dream last night that jonmc and I were on a weekend trip to Hawaii. There was a romantic overtone to it (we were holding hands *blush*) but Pips was around and thought the whole thing was adorable.

This is the second time I've had a threesome-esque dream involving Jon and Pips. I guess I'm smitten.

Someone needs to dream about Space Bags.

Are you getting ready to travel, occhiblu? Damn I wish I'd read this thread before I posted about Pips' square egg up there.

ANd Space Bags work!!!

I have travel-related stress dreams a lot, occhi. In fact, they're my second-most-popular stress dream (after the one where my teeth fall out and I try to put them back in).

I pack and re-pack too. There's no worry about wrinkles, though. (Wrinkles aren't something that stress me.) And then there's always some problem with getting to the airport on time.

These are regular dreams for me, whether I'm going on a trip or not.

Specklet, I had my second 3somesque dream about the same two bunnies (not jon and pips, different ones) last week. I guess I'm a kitten.

I think it's partly travel stress, partly "I don't know if I've garnered the resources necessary for my next project(s)" stress, but mostly my brain trying to file all the various input I've been throwing at it lately (and doing a rather messy job of it).

rainbaby, you have to tell who.

You know who, Specklet - I told you privately the first time.

Oh, wait, I see your confusion, but I guess I'm not that much of a dream ho to have had recurring 3bunny dreams about some other set of mechas.

Sounds like my old waitressing dreams, which involved rushing around trying to serve too many patrons, confusion, kitchen delays, menu items running out, and so on. My sympathies - I think your 'mental organization' theory is right on.

I have to try and figure out the meaning of my dream earlier this week in which I was at the beach, bright sunny day, enjoying the fun surf at the water's edge, when an enormous walrus burst forth from a wave and went washing up onto the beach, so big it created a shadow like that of a zeppelin going by, and very startling.

Hee, rainbaby!

Walrus - Awkward self-expressions, feelings, and emotions.

(I know one-size-fits-all dream symbolism isn't the best, but I do think our dreams speak to us on some collective-unconscious shared-symbolism realms, so I thought I'd throw that out there.)

All my dream clothes will wrinkle.

So what? Your dream-friends will just have to suck it up. Clothes wrinkle. It's just simple [dream-]physics. Your dream-friends will get over them-dream-selves.

Funny: I had some sort of semi-lucid dream intermission last night as I was dreaming about something repetitive and tedious (sorry, can't remember what), and my dream self breaks the fourth wall to think "okay, this is interesting; I have to remember to tell occhiblu about this."

Hee! That's great.

I'll trade you dreams... I'm still stuck in high school in some of my recurring dreams.
