Plea for hugs. →[More:] My dear, dear grandfather is in the hospital and having surgery this afternoon (he was hit by a car on Sunday) and my boss is being really snippy and short with me (and other people in the office are noticing) and I fear for my job security.

Yeah, occhi, she knows. She's been getting increasingly short with me for a couple weeks, which is disconcerting, as I've been busting ym ass trying to make all the changes that have been happening in the company go smoothly. She only sees the things that aren't running perfectly, and gets it into her head that people aren't doing a good job, when, in fact, everyone here is doing really well.

She really truly is a bad boss.

I called up a headhunter agency today and told them I might be interested in something, and they are very anxious to meet me. So, I might go back to being an AutoCAD monkey for a while...

The tearing hair thing sounds mighty satsifying, Hugh.

Speck - ACAD monkeyhood ain't so bad - no thinking required! I look at it as a high tech admin, and it's like being able to cut hair - we can get a job anywhere! But I do hear you on the boredom aspect. This is what ackyhawl is for.

Dude, that sucks. I hope your grandfather's ok-- keep us updated.

As far as the boss is concerned, don't let her get to you. Move on if you need to (even to CADmonkey-dom, temporarily), but don't give her the space in your head to upset you.

She's not worth it.

Awww, hugs for you, Specklet. Your boss is obviously an asshat of massive proportions. Sounds like the head hunter option is a sensible one. I really hope your grandfather gets through this perfectly. I am crossing everything crossable.

Sorry about your grandfather speck, and sorry about your job stress. Although, your boss has always been a bit of a snippy crazy lady, hasn't she? Maybe she's just snippier than normal. I hope your grandfather's surgery goes smoothly. I send him wishes of good health.

Aw, dg, now that's what I'm talkin' about!

So he made it through surgery okay, which is a huge relief. General anasthesia can be dicey when you're that old. I'll know more tomorrow when he wakes up and after my uncle talks to the surgeons and doctors.
