"Jesus Christ - there you go, that's my quote," he blurted out. "What timing, huh? This is just f#cking great." With the latest Tour de France doping scandal, and→[More:]with the Bonds thing, I want to take the opportunity to forward my thesis that, in certain sports, (those which require endurance and explosive force) EVERYONE competing at the top level is doping (or else they would not be at that level of performance) and it's the greedy, excessive, or unlucky that get detected.

That is the simplest explanation there is, I think.

Does anyone else think this way?

Hey, didja know that I helped VeloNews do their first TdF website in 1994? It was me and another intern, taking faxed reports from their reporter and transcribing them into very rough html and publishing on a webserver at the University of Florida or somewhere that had been volunteered for the project.

I just found it amusing that the most prominent rider reaction came from David Millar, a former admitted doper who served a two-year suspension.

I obsess over the Tour de France each year. My cat is named Lance. I'm streaming the live video of the Versus broadcast from my PC at home so I can listen to it (and sneak quick glances at it when I think I won't get busted) at work. And shit like this disappoints me to no end. Maybe I'm (willfully) naive, but I have to believe that cheaters are the exception, and not the rule; the alternative is too much of a let down to even consider.
