matildaben! I just love your kicky do! That is all.
Kicky indeed! Very cute!

In fact, you are all very cute! DaShiv did a nice job of capturing it.

Absolutely. Everyone looks amazing. DaShiv not only finds flattering camera angles, he also captures people with warm, lively, interesting looks on their faces.

MB, your new Flickr ID photo is also awesome. It has a realy 40s punup look, all red-lipsticky and over-the-shoulder coy.

Okay - finally I have the perfect opportunity: What specifically makes something "kicky?" I mean - in general, when I see or hear something refered to as "kicky" I can sort of recognize that said item belongs in the kicky set, but I'll be damned if I can think of anything quantifiable to justify myself. Anyone?
Kicky = a mix of sassy and cute.

Those photos turned out fantastically well! You can't believe how dark it was in there. DaShiv made everybody look to purty!

I think TPS nailed it on the head, there. Perhaps a pinch of flirty. And a dash of saucy, too.

Not trying to be obtuse, but - what are the elements of "sassy?" I mean, I can look at MB's haircut and see the kicky, cute, and sassy, but if you just gave me the kicky, cute, and sassy, I wouldn't know how to get back to that haircut. What makes it "sassy?" Does a "kicky do" have to be short? How about "kicky" shoes or a "kicky" dress? Short? Fun? Flirty? And what constitutes "fun" or "flirty?" Sigh. It's an eye of the beholder thing, isn't it?
She's quite lovely. Oh yes.

It looks like it was a nice meet. Much more fun than I had on that Friday night – the last part of a long road trip (over 5000 car miles in 2.5 weeks) found me desperately wanting to get the hell away from my Colorado relatives and back to the coastal northwest.

(Of course, my day in Portland had to fall over a week before the meet.)

That is a wonderful photo -- I will now always think of matildaben as the Cheshire Cat (and I mean that in a totally positive way, of course). *Such* a great smile, and those cats-eye glasses! Wonderful.

- It's Raining Florence Henderson

Oh, the irony! heheh

Anyway, as damn cute as matildaben is, I have to admit my first thought was "That portrait's a DaShiv!"

"kicky" is definitely a midwestern or northern term, I think.

Aw shucks, everyone. And thanks to BP for letting me know this was going on.

And my hair just does that naturally.

And I guess I can never get any other glasses, huh?

BTW, my friend Jeremy took some really nice pictures of me the other night when a bunch of us from Flickr group met for a night shoot.

I think it's just a women's magazine term, or maybe something you see in old "Cathy" comics.

Mats/DaShiv, I credit you both with that excellent shot. Thanks eamondaly for pointing it out.

I hate both those things, so I resent that remark.
