Crowded House in da house! Woo! I'm so excited! Fellow Mefite jonson and I will be attending the special Crowded House show at the (tiny and wonderful) Troubadour tonight, as part of the kickoff for their first U.S. tour in more than a decade.→[More:]However, there will be NO MAKING OUT WITH NEIL FINN because, well, I promised Paul Weller I wouldn't.

The new album is really good. I wasn't sure what I'd think of it as the only album of theirs that I really loved was Together Alone, which is stunning. I'm a fan of Neil Finn's solo stuff as well, but the stuff with Tim, for some reason. But, yes, the new album is great and well worth getting.

Awesome show! They sounded fantastic, and clearly were enjoying themselves so much -- the whole thing just felt very buoyant. (And young Elroy Finn was doing acoustic guitar honors!) Great set list (I think about 6 songs off the new album, then a nice broad selection of previous material), but as jonson and I were saying after the show, we would have been pleased with just about any song they played. It will be interesting to see how flexible the set lists will be over the course of the tour.

Anyway, for everyone who's going to see them on the rest of the tour: enjoy! It was a real treat. (I never managed to see CH the first time around, though I've seen Neil solo and with Tim, so I've been waiting a long time for this.)
