ning? Pownce? Twitter? That other twitter? - I swear if I have to join one more thing and "connect with my friends" on there I'm gonna scream.[More:] The whole gather up your friends lists is really beginning to grate on me as well. UGH. Especially on the "content-less" social networks (think ning) where you join only to be posting blogs and films and photos and whatever else that i can do on my own blog already wtf people? Anyone else really getting sick of this?
Yesh. I'm mightily sick of it, and especially facebook and myspace. There are certain people I keep in touch with via these engines, but I don't enjoy it much.

Meh. Maybe I'm just arsey because it's monday.

This is where you step away from the computer for a little while and take a bit of a breather. :)

(Not that I don't agree with you...although I do have MySpace, Facebook, Twitter...heh)

I got facebook, twitter, that twitter-copy I can't recall right now, Ning - where I have to re-join a hundred sites I already joined because for some reason they think doing their whol community in Ning now is the best thing since sliced bread, I killed Orkut, I deleted my soflow profile - I get a headache trying to befriend pals at Linkedin because they all email my real email which I never give out to sites like these (and vice verca, I can't invite pals because they are equally paranoid), and in the end all I do is hang out here or in the blu or on my own site or a swedish adforum anyway. Meh.

I don't have a twitter. I refuse to tell the world about every breath I take... there's enough noise on the net without my pitiful additions. I mean, I already blog; isn't that enough detail?

I mean, heck, why can't we just connect our frickin' blogs together - it's the same group of people I connect with every time.

yeah I only liked to try twitter out but when I'm not doing anything interesting (say - being in cannes during the Lions awards and then gossiping every step of the way) I don't think anyone out there is bored enough to care what I'm up to.

I have the saving grace of a really short attention span, webwise. I can keep up with here, Mefi, Google News, and my email (barely, not decently - sometimes not even barely, to be honest); I sign up for some other things in case it turns out I really want to use them, but I rarely do manage to stick with anything else for long. I want to do more Flickr-ing, but the slow loading and (to me) clunky aesthetic always puts me off.

I stayed away from MySpace, Twitter, and such since email and phone calls seem to be working for me. But recently I've been getting lots of LinkedIn requests, which is supposed to be for business networking, but so far everyone that sends me an invite seems to comment that they're not sure why they're using, but everyone else is. I'm not sure that those are the people that are going to help me find my next job.

I haven't spent anytime with Twitter since I'm afraid it'd be yet another thing I sign up for an never use (i.e. Vox and countless email services, forums, and lists).

I'm really tempted to drop my myspace profile because I'm tired of people sending me messages on myspace instead of just freakin' emailing me.

The only problem is, I'd have to log in to myspace to do it.

YES YES YES thank YOU what the heck is wrong with people? Email me dangit!! Don't message me at facebook/ning/myspace (yes I got that too) or whatever. Just e m a i l me!

I added a lot of people to my Facebook over time, only to realize one day- hey, I don't care about these people. I don't talk to them- why would I want to cyberstalk them? So I deleted half of my friends- I figured, if I need them, I know where they are. Haven't needed anyone yet.

Twitter annoyed me; I don't know why. Facebook has actually grown on me, just because I've reconnected with some good friends - although we took it to email soon after.

I find these things kinda creepy; it shouldn't be so easy for someone to just appear out of my past. I mean, if they're gonna spring some long-lost shit on me, let's at least make it nearly impossible for them to track me down. Then I'll know it's worth it to them, or at least that they're dangerously obsessive. With Facebook, you can be stalked at the merest whim. "That cat pissed in my lunchbox in seventh grade" or "That dude [Hugh] really knew how to peg a pair of jeans; I wonder what he's up to now?" are not sufficient reasons for stalking me down, but Facebook makes it that easy.

However, "[Hugh Janus] broke all my pencils just before we went in to take the SATs, and I got kicked out of the testing room for trying to borrow a pencil from my sweetheart. She got in trouble, too, though she wasn't expelled like me. They thought we were trying to cheat! Anyway, she took off for parts unknown and left me here, once headed for MIT, now a gas-jockey for life; my own parents have called me a cheater and hung up the phone the five times I've tried to speak to them since that asshole broke my pencils. I've been searching phonebooks for years, but [Janus] is off the map," seems like a good reason to hunt after me. If I had the chance, I'd do it again, Drew Peacock; you always were a fat dick!

I only use Facebook and e-mail, but that's because pretty much everyone I was already friends with is on there, so it's easy to invite people over and things. I've been pretty restrictive with the privacy controls and I only add people I actually have met, which is nice and keeps down the noise.

Because this is the internet, here's a map of which online social networking thingies are dominant in which countries.

I have a blog I haven't updated in ages, I joined Vox because Get Off My Lawn threatened to kill me if I didn't and I'm scared of her, but I never look at it (sorry GOML) and I recently got Skyped up. I'm one of those odd people who finds even the phone intrusive, unless it's someone I know I really want to talk to and have the time to talk, so I prefer email mostly to communicate, I can answer it in my own sweet time.

Just because you can do something (like create social networks on the web) doesn't mean there's any value in doing it.

*applauds miko & the sickos-of-social doodads* I have a linked in account but am seriously thinking of deleting it b/c it's not effective at anything, really. Sure feels like 1998 out there with all this copycat hoohah.

Cap'n email me baby I have invitations to bloody everything. Which is basically why I join. So I can steal my username and horde invitations. He!

I was horrified when I started my new job to discover that everyone here uses LinkedIn and takes it very seriously. Several years ago someone twisted my arm into putting up a profile there, but it's way out of date and the thought of logging in and dealing with it fills me with dismay.

LinkedIn is something you sign up for? That's creepy -- my name shows up in it, and I never put up a profile or anything. I figured they got my name from a newspaper article or something. Did someone else add me?

i wish I could set Ning and whatever to accept all friends requets automagically - since it's all my freinds atht are requesting it anyway. Lazy!
