$600-a-pound coffee -- beans plucked from the droppings of wild civets
Mecha Civit Farm! Who is with me?

I've drunk it. Kinda "meh"

I've also had it. It's underwhelming and over-rated. Much more important is roasting, blending and brew technique.

(As featured previously - I take my coffee pretty seriously. I hand-drip my brew, grind perfectly for hand-drip, choose well blended beans, etc. I can evoke good sweet chocolaty flavors from even lower-grade fresh-roasted beans.)

I *lived* in Indonesia for a year and never heard of this or saw it advertised or talked about, though I'd heard of it before going over there.

kopi luwak = Bahasa Indonesian for "wow, these Westerners sure are gullible, aren't they?"

I listened to the Fresh Air segment in which Terry Gross talked to a gentleman who wrote about this. I was somewhat nauseated by it. Dudes who can afford to pay $600 for a pound of this stuff are more than welcome to it.

For $8 for 12 oz, I prefer Pachamama Co-op Nicaragua Nueva Segovia
coffee.

This stuff is the bees' knees. It is the wasp's nipples. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it is the erogenous zones of all the worlds' flying insects.

I look forward to going to bed at night so that I can wake up in the morning and drink more. One more reason to live in San Francisco: You can get it at Rainbow Grocery.

I've had it too. It's quite an interesting / unusual flavour to start with, but gets boring fast - it doesn't really have any depth or complexity. The fact that it's mostly robusta rather than arabica beans doesn't really help. Not worth the money by any stretch.

I wish I was a civet. I'd corner the market!

This is the most incredible wildlife video I have ever seen. || Do you wear ties? Look here.
