Wow, that's gorgeous, danf. Hawaii's definitely on my list of ultimate destinations.

There's something quite primeval and a little frightening about standing inside a volcano crater, isn't there? "Will it erupt? Now?"

I remember at Vesuvius, where it's all volcanic screed and one false step could send you sliding over the edge and into the centre of the crater, watching our guide dig little hole and boil an egg in it.
