Honey, I'm Home! [More:]1. Swam with a pod of wild spinner dolphins.

2. Hiked through a couple newish craters at the volcano, but did not see any molten lava (it stopped a week before I got there).

3. Had dinner usually overlooking Kailua Town, watching the sunset from my friends' dining lanai.

4. Almost bought one of these but, sadly, common fiscal sense prevailed.

5. Surfed a bit, but not as much as I wanted due to it being too big, or just flat.

6. Snorkled a whole lot. It was like being in a tropical fish tank.

7. Drank too much wine.

8. Some black sand turned up in my luggage, probably from a swimsuit, and I am going to mail it back to my friend to redeposit on the beach.

Pics forthcoming.
Welcome back! I can't wait to see the pics.

(you should have splurged on the guitar)

Yeah, those Goodalls are nice. I played one in Alexandria, VA once, and had to leave the store for fear of buying one.

Lucky you!

Well the guitar. My friend Stephen is one of their premier resident players in Kona. In fact, he has a standing offer of a job there, either making guitars or giving tours, if he wants one.

The guitar pictured lists at $5200. It was a "second" due to a flaw in the top, which I could not see. So it was marked down to $4200. James Goodall told the office manager to do better than that, since I was friends with this guy, and had spent a few hours, up to then, playing various of their guitars. I could have gotten this for $3600 and I ALMOST did. Could have put it on a Visa card, but I just could not do it, with a kid in college coming up, and all. Maybe someday. . .*sigh*. . .I'll just have to make do with my Martin for now.

Jesus, well a Martin's nothing to sneeze at! (Mine got stolen years ago and I'm still mad about it.)

Sounds like you had a great time!

Where are the pics?

I'd take a Gibson J-45 over a Martin any day. Though I have a soft spot for the limited edition Martin CEO-IV (which is a slope-shouldered dreadnought along the lines of a J-45, no wonder I likey). Most Martins just sound all "La la la la la" to me.

I need some boom for the mental relaxation.
