MESSAGES TO OTHER BUNNIES THREAD! [More:]
Lipstick Thespian: I haven't forgotten your email, I just haven't had time to respond! Sorry!

Mrs. Pants:
I miss you! Let's get a drink sometime soon!
me3dia: How are you today? I am OK, if not a little stressed out. ::deep breaths::

TPS: Relax. Did you once tell me something about fingernail-trimming and the white (light) part at the end of the nail, and how trimming the white (light) part makes it thicker or longer or stronger or something? I feel like you did, but can't remember what it was, and may be hallucinating the whole thing.

box: Don't think that was me. My fingernails are ridiculously weak, no matter what I do to them. So I just keep 'em trimmed real short.

scarabic: Hellooooooooooooo!

Miko: How are ya?

mygothlaundry: Word.

initapplette: I've been kinda thinking about a DDC tattoo. But what if OCLC suddenly becomes a Scientologist death-cult or something?

lonefrontranger: If I install a suspension-corrected fork on a non-suspension-corrected frame, it'll raise the bars slightly, and make the head and seat angles more slack, right? Is there a downside I'm not seeing?

elsa: Tell me some non-obvious thing to do with a bunch of basil.

wilder: Don't let The Man get you down. They need you more than you need Them.

jonmc: How's the job-hunt going?

hadjiboy: Thanks for you comment on my blog. You've been quiet recently!

TPS: I'm doing OK, a little hectic, though. I've been away from the computer most of the day.

me3dia: That is good to hear!

shane i haven't forgotten your email either, i'm just in the midst of moving hell.

chewatadistance i have an answer for you about bobble (balance) boards but it's too wordy for this thread, email me.

box i'm roughly twelve thousand eight hundred and seventy-first on a list of folks you should ask suspension questions of cos ima roadie and all that noise BUT here's my $.02 anyhoo:

that will fuck with the handling and shift your centre of gravity rearward relative to the bottom bracket, so no, i wouldn't do it. there's a reason the geometry on any given bike works the way it does, and every frame manufacturer has their own proprietary magic recipe. changing the angles in the manner you propose could conceivably make the thing handle like a semi with armstrong steering, and make it hell to keep the front wheel down going up steep technical climbs. which, depending on your use intent could be okay, or could suck balls. personal anecdote: i put a long-travel fork on my old klein XC racer (a bike never intended for LT) and the bike rode suckily ever after - it transformed my formerly-nimble XC rig into something that descended with all the snap and cornering grace of a pregnant rhino. i'd check with your LBS first.

or... alternatively go onto mtbr.com and ask those guys because you'll get a hell of a lot more informative answer. wear your asbestos boxers when you do, tho, cos depending on how you frame the question, it might kinda devolve into a declawing-cats-thread vis-a-vis AskMeFi. the guys on mtbr can get pretty opinionated in that overcaffeinated skater punk gravity junkie kinda manner. meaning, they're generally not wrong, but they can just be assholes.

because seriously i dunno shit about suspension and ride an $80 dumpster diver extravaganza hardtail as my MTB.

lfr: Thanks for the advice--I asked the guys at my local shop, but I think they might've been sidetracked by visions of selling me a suspension fork. (Just to clarify, this isn't a suspension question, and I've got no interest in suspended bikes. Rather, I'm trying to minimize the twitchy steering, and increase the stability, on a bike that I often ride while half-loaded. The head angle is a pretty good number for an XC racer, but entirely too steep for a town bike.)

chrismear: So we're Xbox friends now. What games do you like to play?

box oh. okay. well in that case it probably wouldn't be a bad thing.

i assumed you were gonna be using this thing to trail ride, but for use as a city bike it shouldn't be an issue.

see, there's what you get for asking a bike racer bike-related questions without suitable framing :p
