The Alchemist is coming to a movie theatre near you.... →[More:] According to The Hollywood Reporter, the filmmakers want to turn the book into "a Harry Potter meets Indiana Jones" sweeping adventure.

I've read The Alchemist a number of times as it's one of my favourite books, and not once did it strike me as Harry Potter meets Indiana Jones. I hope they don't muck up a perfectly lovely story.

I've tried to read that book a couple of times and couldn't get into it. The New Yorker took the author down pretty hard in this recent piece. But I know others who say it's their favorite book.
