Bunnystock II: The Deadening? Bunnystock was nearly a year ago. On that weekend, I promised to plan Bunnystock II here at the beach. I just realized I've been shirking my duties.→[More:]
This is an assessing interest thread. Interested in coming to southeast Virginia in the late August/early September timeframe? I know it's short notice, and for that I apologize. Bunnystock was an absolutely amazing weekend. We must continue the tradition!

I just spoke to the ex, and here are my available weekends (ie, no kid):
August 10-12
August 31-Sept 3 (Labor Day weekend; bonus because most people have Monday off, sucky because tourists YUCK)
Sept 14-16
Sept 28-30

Labor Day might work, or the September dates are fine. August 10 - 12 is a little too close to school starting here.

Labor Day weekend (despite the traffic) or Sept. 14-16 would be good. NYC schools actually have a four day weekend for the Jewish New Year this year, from Sept. 13-16. August works, too. (If it ends up working for Jon, too, of course.) Who wants to build a sand castle?

As for accommodations, as rainbaby said, rates at the beach drop significantly after Labor Day, so if people want to stay in hotels, the later September dates are desirable. I have a 3 BR apartment and could sleep 3-4 with privacy, and as many as want to stay here if people don't care about privacy (I don't). Bring sleeping bags and pillows.

I'm leaning towards Labor Day weekend because of the free day off factor. We can manage the tourists. Most of you will be tourists.

August will be out for me- any weekend in Sept. should work. The sooner I know the dates, the better the odds I can get that weekend off.

August out for me, Labor Day makes me shudder. I don't know if one could even still get a hotel. Plus the driving and the traffic - people driving from NYC and back - 95, the Eastern Corridor, on Labor Day weekend? But, whatever you guys decide. Let me know how I can help, mike9322.

OTOH, so far it seems like Labor Day is the only weekend that isn't out for someone.

If we do it in August, people get left out.
If we do it later in September, people get left out.
If we do it Labor Day, it sucks hard for travellers.

I probably can't afford a cross-country flight since I'm prioritizing international travel and may also have some family-related travel obligations. So you'll have to do without me this time :(

So, does it have to be in August/September, or can you extend it into fall? (Not asking for myself, just thinking maybe if you have a broader range, a better date might emerge)

Wow has it been a year already?! mike, people will always get left out - it's hard to get 'em all! I gotta say Labor Day doesn't thrill me, traffic or crowd wise.

What if we played with Doodle to see what surfaces for folks?

The only reason I would lean towards summer, BP, is because people might want to play in the ocean. It's the beach!
