27 June 2007

Wish I could skip school It's Hazy, Hot and Humid today...[More:]and is the very definition of the PERFECT beach day. And yet, here I am, at my dull old desk. I have a deep yearning to be sitting instead in a beach chair with a good book, salt drying on my skin, the shouts of children dimly echoing around the edges of my consciousness. Waiting until the heat is completely wrapped around my skin, then getting up and plunging into the almost painfully cold waters of northern New England. It's summer, people. Aren't we supposed to be out of school already? What's with all this paper? Why am I still sitting here doing dittoes? There is a beautiful world out there, and if I could only get away with escaping and ignoring the stuff I've got to do this week or pay the consequences...I would.
Isn't it supposed to storm later? Relish it.

Also, let's play hookey together one of these days. Are you game?

PLEASE MAKE IT STOP RAINING. It was funny for a bit, but this has turned into a nightmare in the UK. No one I know has ever seen flooding like this in their lifetime.

Climate change ahoy.

I'm totally game, Elsa. Completely!

The heat is oppressive in NYC today. I need to go to the post office, but I'm not sure I want to make the trek....

It's been cool here today, sun/rain/sun/rain, with a breeze. Not unpleasant, but not normal June weather either.

YAY! Soon, when my spine and I are fit to travel, I'm taking the train down for a few days' visit to a friend in Nearby University Town; I can hop the shuttle over to Redacted and we can make an afternoon of it!

Or you could come up to Redacted Redux and we can bop around here!

Um, you might bop. I'll limp and shuffle. But still! YAY!

Either way! I hope to be in Redacted Redux before too long - I bop up there every now and then to feel like I'm in the Big City.

OK, Big[ger] City. But still!

Definitely get in touch when in University Town.

I'll do so! And if you expect to have free time in Big[ger] City, drop me a line! (Email's in profile.) We can plan an outing or just wander. I love a good wander!

Miko was right after all; weather.com knows nothing. We have no sign of our promised thunderstorms.

Should I be happy or sad?

Well, after a cool evening in Local Beach Resort Town, all is better. Some skee ball, some root beer float, and a dip in the cold ocean helped a bit.

However, returning home to find the house still holding onto a stuffy bubble of hot air is less than pleasant. Fans on, windows up, get some air through here.
