"Is there any of that meatloaf left?" "Nah, there was some big guy in there. I guess he ate it all."

It's easy to forget how much fun the Muppet Show was.

That's not Miss Piggy on "You and Me".

You are right Eide. I was misled by Wikipedia once again. I had originally thought it might be Janice from Electric Maham (probably the same voice anyway).

I was a card carrying member of the Muppet fan-club for two or three years. Not only did I get a poster, membership card, and newsletter, but also a "personally autographed" picture of Animal. At the time that was the coolest thing in the world.

And when Steve Martin guested on the Muppets my head almost exploded. My two favorite things in the world together.

The Muppets, John Denver - Twelve Days of Christmas

John Denver & The Muppets -- A Christmas Together is my favorite holiday album.

I used to watch The Muppet Show religiously. When season one came out on DVD, I realized A) it's still freakin' hilarious, and B) the Muppets were a huge influence on how my whole sense of humor developed.

I wish there was something this creative and intelligent available for kids to watch now.
According to this, "After singing his hit "You and Me" to a vicious-looking bird monster (Beakie), Alice changes the bird back into Miss Piggy."

Thanks so much for the songs, arse_hat.

On my desk at work sits the Kermit mug I got for Christmas in 1981.

Kermit was my second love (after Donny Osmond) - I had a huge phase where I really thought it would be possible to marry Kermit...if I could just get rid of the pig.

The funny thing is that most of the guys I like now end up having many Kermit qualities.

I loved the muppet show too. This was one of the few american TV shows I used to see when I was younger. Thus the major gaps in my pop culture.

Thanks arsey!

I remember watching this show every week with my dad. It was sad when he was away and I'd have to watch it without him.

Actually, the Muppet Show was a UK show.

"Lew Grade, head of the British commercial station ATV, offered a deal to Henson that would see his show produced at the ATV studios in Elstree, England. ATV would network the show to other ITV stations in the United Kingdom, and its syndication arm, ITC Entertainment, would sell the show in the United States and around the world." *

BTW -- an interesting article from December 1978: Those Marvelous Muppets.
