Name DJ set themes you would enjoy hearing here...

Songs in non-standard time signatures. E.g., 5/8, 7/4, 11/16 . ..

1) "Ancient Greek themes in modern soul music"

2) "What happened to the words?"

3) "Steve Stevens is the most influential rock guitarist of the last thirty-five years"

Sets that articulate a response to a specific AskMe question (I don't mean questions on the order of "give me songs about X" but rather questions ranging from "I like him, I think he likes me, what now?" and "Where's my xxx port on this new thingamajig?" to "Do people eat nautiluses?" and "I like tattoos, but I pass out when I get them. Is this preventable, and if not, is there any harm if they keep inking while I'm out?". Provide a link to the question in the first comment of the radio set announcement and go from there. Or, you could list you songs as you play the set then supply the link as the denouement to your set. I would do up a set like this. Should I challenge you? Throw down the gauntlet? Did you just take your gloves off and smack me? What is this? Peanut butter!!??!

Neat idea, hellbient.

First songs on albums
Last songs on albums
Soundtrack music
B-sides
Songs and sample sources
Music from (geographic location, decade, record label, etc.)
Micro-subgenres
Self-consciously jarring and freeform
Some kind of six-degrees-esque thing

Here's one, for safetyfork's AskMe idea:

Dear AskMe, I have a carbuncle just to the left (looking down) of my scrotum. It doesn't itch that badly. My parakeet likes it, so I let him pick and scratch at it. Are there any diseases I should worry about giving him? He's my only pretty bird and I love him, but I'm desperate; if he gets sick and I have to kill him, I'd like to keep his brain for an experiment (NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, DON'T ASK). Please hold the sarcasm and don't tell me I shouldn't be naked with my bird, I'VE ALREADY THOUGHT OF THAT, SHUT UP.

Remember that game where you write a new entry based on the letters of the last word from the previous entry? I'd like a tag-song-set doing something like that - Take me to the River leads to..uuuh...

Hugh J,

I have a busy weekend coming up, but with your permission I'd be happy to prepare a set around the above comment. It'll be a set where the big reveal is already known, but I think it would still be rewarding.

Perhaps I can take some time after this weekend and come up with the list. I already have a few ideas.

It's been a while since we played that game.

Also, I daydreamed last night about inventing a board game called 'Degrees.' There's a deck of cards with proper nouns on them, and there's a die. So you'd roll, say, a three, and then you'd draw cards that say 'Robin Givens' and 'Crispin Glover.' And then you'd say 'Robin Givens was on Head of the Class with Howard Hesseman, who was in Rubin and Ed with Crispin Glover,' or, y'know, something. But surely somebody else has already had this idea, or, alternately, it's got huge problems that I haven't seen. Or both.

On post view, I'm referencing Hugh's comment which is not to say that dabitch's idea isn't infinitely rad (because it is). Also, I'll pipe down. I'm not meaning to threadjack.

Feel free to use any of my comments for any sort of inspiration you like.

Better threadjack than Freejack.

What themes could potentially include 'Memo From Turner'? Because I'm a pretty big fan of that song.

Cover versions with the gender switched (kind of like when I cover Gillian Welch).

You could start that one with Janis Joplin's "Me & Bobby McGee," chuckdarwin.
